My sister is planning her wedding, and at one point, she thought about using duct tape roses as a wedding favor. I hadn’t heard about duct tape roses before, so I immediately went looking for examples. I found several different how-to’s and wanted to share the best ones here.
Very Easy Rose
Go here for directions from Instructables.
The directions above are easy to follow and are the most complete for this type of rose. These roses require no cutting, are very easy to make, and can be used for many different applications. You can easily construct the rose around the end of a pen or straw rather than using floral wire, or if you don’t wrap the floral wire in tape, you can easily mount the rose to a headband, belt, purse, or other accessory. Below are a couple I made. Note: The instructions say they take at least 10 min to make; it took me about 15 min per rose. I didn’t have any green duct tape, so I used gray for the stem.
Here’s a video that shows how to make the rose on the end of a pen:
Realistic Rose
Though the Very Easy Rose is pretty, it doesn’t look very realistic. This issue made me search for a more realistic looking one, and I found this:
This rose takes a bit more time and steps (like cutting and coloring) to make than the Very Easy Rose, but the results speak for themselves. You truly do get a realistic looking rose.
